Every Stage Matters
Our process begins before a breeding takes place and continues long after each puppy enters its new home.
Planning the Pairing
Every proposed pairing is considered for health, structure, temperament, pedigree compatibility and the long-term direction of Kemara Kennels. A breeding only proceeds when there is a clear purpose behind it.
Expressions of Interest
Prospective families introduce themselves through our enquiry process. We learn about their home, lifestyle, experience, expectations and the type of companion they are seeking.
Pregnancy Confirmation
Once a pregnancy is confirmed, important updates and expected milestones are shared. Families are kept informed without making promises before puppies arrive safely and begin developing.
Birth and Newborn Care
The first weeks focus on warmth, nutrition, hygiene, daily monitoring and supporting the mother. Each puppy is observed closely and records are maintained from the beginning.
Early Neurological and Sensory Development
Age-appropriate handling and gentle exposure are introduced gradually. The aim is to support resilience and confidence without overwhelming young puppies.
Socialisation and Enrichment
As puppies grow, they experience suitable sounds, surfaces, objects, household activity, people and positive routines. Development is guided by each puppy's confidence and maturity.
Health and Veterinary Care
Puppies receive age-appropriate veterinary checks, preventative care, microchipping and documentation before leaving. Exact inclusions are confirmed with families for each litter.
Temperament Observation
We observe energy, confidence, recovery, engagement and individual preferences over time. No single test defines a puppy; placement is based on the full picture of development.
Matching Puppies with Homes
Families are matched thoughtfully rather than choosing only from appearance. The goal is to place each puppy in the environment where its temperament and needs can be supported.
Preparing for Home
Approved families receive guidance on equipment, feeding, routines, transport, settling in, training and the first veterinary visit so they can prepare before collection day.
Going-Home Day
Each puppy leaves with its available records, care guidance and agreed documentation. Collection details are planned to keep the transition as calm and organised as possible.
Lifetime Kemara Support
Our relationship does not finish at handover. We encourage regular updates and remain available for responsible guidance throughout the dog's life.
